Getting around

Trains, buses & parking

Amtrak: the Pere Marquette leaves Holland's Padnos Transportation Center (171 Lincoln Ave, a 10–15 minute walk; Hope offers free rides to the station) at 6:49am for Chicago, arriving 9:08am Central. The return leaves Chicago at 6:30pm Central and gets to Holland at 10:33pm. One round trip a day; Grand Rapids is about an hour.

Buses: MAX runs weekdays only, about 5am–7pm, with stops on 9th Street by the Haworth Inn and on 11th Street by DeVos Fieldhouse. $1.15 a ride, or $34.50 for a semester pass with your student ID.

Flying home: Hope runs shuttles to Grand Rapids' airport (GRR, about 45 minutes) around breaks, $25 each way when you book ahead.

Parking: downtown parking is free, with no meters, but no overnight parking without a permit. In winter, downtown's heated "snowmelt" streets and sidewalks stay clear.
